Wyoming Beef Council vacancy announcement

CHEYENNE, WYO ‐  The Wyoming Beef Council (WBC) has an upcoming vacancy for a producer of range cattle.  The term for Lacee Sims, who currently holds this position, will expire June 30, 2017.  Sims is eligible for reappointment; however, the position is open to any Wyoming producer of range cattle.  The position description and application are available at http://www.wybeef.com/for-producers/board-vacancies.

This position will be filled by appointment made by Governor Matt Mead who will select a producer of range cattle from applications received by the WBC no later than April 30. Letters of recommendation and support are encouraged.  All applications will be sent to the governor in early May for appointment to a three-year term that will begin July 1, 2017.

The WBC is a five-member board of beef producers appointed by the governor to increase demand for beef through promotion, education, and research. WBC programs are funded by the $1-per-head Beef Checkoff collected on all Wyoming cattle. According to the Beef Promotion and Research Act and Order, fifty cents of each dollar collected is sent to the Cattlemen’s Beef Board while Wyoming cattlemen who serve on the WBC determine the expenditure of the remaining fifty cents.

Please contact Ann Wittmann, WBC executive director, at 307-777-7396 with any questions about the vacancies or the associated duties.
